Peeking Ahead

Just looking ahead to the new year - wondering what all we will see and experience. This year, I am celebrating 30 years in the ministry. Hard to believe that it has been that long. Hard also to believe that God has taken a country boy from Southside Virginia and allowed him to preach all over the world - from street corners in Romania to fields in Kenya, from elaborate church buildings to buildings with no floors or windows, and to crowds of thousands and to groups of 10. As I peek ahead, I also have to think back and acknowledge that He has given to me so much more than I ever envisioned for myself: a wonderful wife and helpmate that He gave to me 34 years ago who has been a constant blessing and encouragement, a son that loves the Lord and and is faithfully serving Him as the Southern Baptist Campus Missionary at Marshall University, his precious wife who serves faithfully along with him, our 2 amazing grandchildren who fill our lives with such joy, and the opportunities to serve Him for these 30 years.

I don't know what 2009 holds, but I am so thankful that I know the One who holds it all in His hands!
